If you’re the Memphis Grizzlies, this offseason is already looking incredibly trick given what’s happened over the past year. The injury to and pending free agency of Mike Conley, the injury to Marc Gasol, and the aging core of the team as a whole leave the Grizz in an interesting and difficult position moving forward.

That being said, taking a player like Marquese Chriss out of Washington seems like the right course of action here. The big man has the skill-set to play and have success in the NBA game and he’s a guy that could learn under the veteran big men in Memphis to ultimately be a real weapon for the franchise as they transition into a new era.

There’s certainly no player in college basketball that did more for his NBA Draft stock than Kentucky point guard Tyler Ulis did this past season. While he could’ve been a second round pick or maybe a late first-rounder in the most generous of NBA Mock Drafts, he came out and dominated the college basketball world this past season.

Though he certainly lacks size at just 5-9, that didn’t stop him in the slightest from making plays and leading the Wildcats in the tough SEC throughout his time at Kentucky. He’s a fantastic player that could really make some noise in the NBA and bringing him in to Detroit to be a spark off the bench behind Reggie Jackson on an upstart Pistons team seems like a fantastic move for a team looking to take the next step.
