The Toronto Raptors just enjoyed arguably their most successful regular season in history. Though the playoffs aren’t through, it feels safe to say that the Raps won’t be winning the title this year and that’s ultimately got to be their goal.
One thing that would help them get closer to their eventual title aspirations would be to help bolster their frontcourt behind Jonas Valanciunas in a manner with far more upside than the likes of Bismack Biyombo. As such, a player like Damian Jones out of Vanderbilt is an intriguing option at pick No. 27.
If you’re wondering how the Suns ended up with this pick as well, the No. 28 selection technically belongs to the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, it was traded to the Celtics in a three-team deal and then again dealt to Phoenix as part of the Isaiah Thomas trade. So here we are.
And at this spot, I have ideas about what the Suns should do this offseason and one of those things is to fight like hell to try and trade veteran center Tyson Chandler to open up the way for Alex Len to try and usher in the future of the franchise. If that were to happen, I’d then want a big, young center like Stephen Zimmerman out of UNLV to come in behind Len and grow into a viable NBA frontcourt player.
Next: No. 29 Spurs, No. 30 Warriors
