The Los Angeles Lakers were quick to release an official statement regarding their dismissal of head coach, Byron Scott

With arguably the most important free agency period in Lakers’ history looming, it was only a matter of time before the Los Angeles Lakers parted ways with under performing head coach, Byron Scott.

This is to say that no free agent in their right mind would be excited for the prospect of playing for a Byron Scott run team alongside a band of college aged teammates.

In a short and sweet post entitled “Lakers Part Ways with Head Coach Byron Scott” the Lakers official website delivered a final goodbye to the team’s 25th coach.

More from Lake Show Life

"The Los Angeles Lakers have decided not to pick up the option for the 2016-17 season on the contract for Head Coach Byron Scott, it was announced tonight.“We would like to thank Byron for his hard work, dedication and loyalty over the last two years, but have decided it is in the best interest of the organization to make a change at this time,” said General Manager Mitch Kupchak. The search for a new head coach will begin immediately."

One good sign from the succinct statement is the prospect that the Lakers have already begun searching for their newest head coach. That said, hopefully they aren’t as quick to hire a replacement as they have been in the past.

More over, it will be interesting to see who the Lakers bring in to interview over the course of the next few days, but regardless the move was one necessary for LA to move on from this sour patch in franchise history.
