Comedians David Spade and Adam Sandler trolled D’Angelo Russell and the Lakers over the locker room phone video with a parody

If there’s one thing that the Los Angeles Lakers didn’t need help in doing in the 2015-16 season, it was embarrassing themselves on a number of occasions. Whether it was on the floor where they were routinely blown out and apathetic or some of their more highly publicized issues off the court, the Lakers became a punch-line quite often over the past year.

However, that was never quite as true than in the aftermath of the leaked cell phone video from the Lakers locker room showing Nick Young admitting his infidelities in his relationship was actually filmed by rookie point guard D’Angelo Russell. The scandal that erupted from that was huge, but so was the number jokes about ready to be an already flailing and struggling team.

As it turns out, though, the best joke had yet to be made until Thursday.

On Thursday, Adam Sandler and David Spade posted a video to the Happy Madison (Sandler’s production company) YouTube page. In the video, Spade is laying on a hotel bed while Sandler sneakily asks him weird questions about his relationship and cheating with Jennifer Lawrence and then increasingly ridiculous things. It’s hilarious—and it’s also clearly a parody of the incident with Russell, Young, and the Lakers:

Quite frankly, I’m just surprised that Spade and Sandler are the first two comedians to make a parody video about this whole situation. It’s pretty low-hanging fruit to make joke about. Regardless, these two comedians do a great job of poking fun at and trolling the Lakers.

Some fans are going to get upset about this video from Spade and Sandler, but it’s really harmless. If we’re being honest, the Lakers, Russell, and Young all deserve to have jokes made at their expense and to be parodied. The key is to make sure that there aren’t any more incidents like this for these two comedians or anyone else to poke fun at moving forward into the new era of the franchise.
