There are quite a few mock drafts that have North Carolina Tar Heels standout Brice Johnson falling to the second round. Though there are obvious reasons why that could happen considering age and the apparent lack of upside that lends itself too, I truly think that Johnson is going to impress people throughout the draft process with his deceptive athleticism and instincts.
Given that one of the biggest issues with the Clippers this season (and in past seasons as well) has been a shallow depth chart in the frontcourt, adding a player like Johnson just makes a ton of sense when you get down to it. He should be able to contribute right away and could immediately fill a need for a team that’s not far away from contending if they add a few more quality pieces.
. PF. North Carolina. Brice Johnson. 25. player. 77

International. Ivica Zubac. 26. player. 93. Even with Sam Hinkie out of the picture in Philadelphia, they have so many young players and so many rolls to fill before they start resembling an NBA team. Given that and given their plethora of draft picks throughout the two rounds, you have to imagine that they are going to use some of their later selections to take overseas players that they can continue to stash and have develop while they re-establish themselves as a viable team in the league.
An interesting prospect in that regard is definitely Bosnian center Ivica Zubac. He has legitimate size at the position and has already shown a bit of talent in a limited role overseas. At just 19 years old, the 76ers taking him and letting him take a few more years to develop in Europe would probably be in his best interest and, in the end, would be in Philly’s best interest when everything is all said and done.
.
