There’s always a risk when you’re talking about high-upside big men in the NBA Draft and (at least in this NBA mock draft) there are a plethora of them near the back-half of the lottery. One of the most intriguing, though, because of the production he showed in the scarce time that he was on the floor is 19-year-old Deyonta Davis out of Michigan State.

Starting with his production, Davis put up 7.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game in only 18.6 minutes per game as a freshman for the Spartans. Though he played less than half the game on average for his team, the big man knew how to get it done offensively, on the glass, and as a shot blocker using his obvious length. However, there are questions about his overall skill level, just what his ceiling is, and how likely it is that he makes it to whatever his ceiling is.

That being said, he’s too talented and too unique of a talent to slip past a certain point for a team that needs a big man. So when you look at team full of young pieces like the Magic that could use another big man in the rotation with Nikola Vucevic, Davis could ultimately make it happen if Orlando selects him.
