NBA Mock Draft 2016: Lottery Set, Who Do Lakers Get at No. 2?
Height: 6-1.75
Weight: 194 pounds
Wingspan: 6-5.5
DOB: 09/07/94
One player who I’ve expressed a great deal of affinity for over the course of these mocks is former Notre Dame Fighting Irish point guard Demetrius Jackson. Jackson showed throughout his three years in the college ranks that he’s more than capable of leading and/or playing at a high level, but he also seems to have the makings and mentality of a player that could set the world on fire at the next level.
In his junior year—his final season—with the Irish, Jackson put up great numbers across the board as he averaged 15.8 points, 4.7 assists, 3.5 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting a solid 45.1 percent from the floor. You’d like his three-point percentage of 33.1 percent to be a bit higher, but he more than makes up for it with his aggression and athleticism. A shot can be worked on, but you can’t really teach the athleticism that allowed Jackson to chart a 43.5-inch max vertical leap at the combine.
I’ve said it before, but I could see Jackson being a Russell Westbrook type player at the next level. He may not be a superstar, but I love his relentless attack and putting him behind Reggie Jackson is something I’d like to see.
