There were quite a few players in college basketball this past season that really came out of nowhere to improve their draft stock a great deal. While Buddy is the poster-child out of Oklahoma, a player like Brice Johnson out of North Carolina is another player that did just the same as he didn’t even have the most buzz on his team coming into the year.
However, Johnson made sure he got his attention throughout the year with his play. He was a monster for the Tar Heels as he averaged 17 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 1.1 steals in only 28 minutes per game while also shooting 61.4 percent from the field. Though he still has a bit of a slight frame and isn’t exceptionally long or tall, he showed at the NBA Draft Combine that he has the athleticism to make up for it, measuring a 38-inch max vertical leap.
For a team like the Los Angeles Clippers that have long needed frontcourt depth behind Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, Johnson is the type of player with the skill and athleticism to slot right in as a reserve on that team and make an impact.
