The latest rumblings have the Los Angeles Lakers landing Duke prospect, Brandon Ingram with the second overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft
Late May, early June is exactly when draft hopefuls begin to ramp up their pre-draft workouts and overall exposure with the media and that is exactly what Lakers’ prospective number two overall pick, Brandon Ingram has done as of late.
Covered by the draft wizards over at Draft Express, their latest video covers not only clips of Ingram’s pre-draft workouts but also a rather telling interview.
Earlier this month, ESPN Insider, Chad Ford revealed that Ingram’s interviews at the NBA Draft Combine were a “home run” and his answers in this latest interview affirm this completely.

Ingram spoke about everything from how these workouts differed to the ones at Duke to his daily routine which consisted of mostly, you guessed it, basketball, giving fans a better look at what kind of player the Lakers could be drafting.
However, of all of the questions, the one that stuck out the most was when he was asked “Five years from now, what’s the biggest thing that’s going to stick with you from Coach K?”
"Probably accountability and responsibility. Taking responsibility for my own actions and probably just knowing that I’m always being watched. Just knowing that kids are looking up to me and trying to do the right things at all times."
The answer doesn’t sound like something you would normally hear out of the mouth of an 18 year old, but what made it even better was that Ingram sounded absolutely sincere when he said this.
Seeing what happened with D’Angelo Russell this season, it’s a great sign to see Ingram’s understanding of what being in the NBA limelight entails even before being drafted. When asked about his thoughts on where he might get drafted, or if he cared who picked him he said,
"That’s up to the team that drafts me. I mean, it doesn’t matter to me, any organization that can take me, that’s where I want to be. . .I don’t have a certain place that I want to go, whatever team drafts me that’s it."
This seems to be exactly opposite of the recent reports about draft rival, Ben Simmons.
