Earlier in the year, there were rumors of a possible Phil Jackson-Lakers reunion, here’s what Jeanie Buss had to say recently about the rumblings
With the New York Knicks struggling heavily throughout the entirety of the 2015-2016 NBA season, rumors of a Phil Jackson-Los Angeles Lakers reunion began to take form.
Now, with the recent hiring of Luke Walton, a player who Kobe Bryant once proclaimed would be the next Phil Jackson, the stage is seemingly set for yet another return of the Zen Master to LA.

However, team president, Jeanie Buss recently revealed that the Lakers have no plans on bringing Jackson back to the Purple and Gold any time soon.
Seeing how Walton has since made it public that the Golden State Warriors’ uptempo offense would be a better fit for this Lakers line up, and more over, that they’ll tend to stay clear of the Triangle, Jackson to LA would seemingly be a step backwards.
Andy Kamenetzky also brought up an interesting point: regardless of what Jeanie truly intends to do in regards to Jackson, “what else would she possibly say?”
If there was ever a time to bring back Phil Jackson for a third tenure with the Lakers, it was before the team hired Byron Scott, but now is obviously not the time.
Based on his current track record as President of Operations for the Knicks, the Lakers would be wise to steer clear and continue down the path they’ve already started upon since deciding to spurn big man Jahlil Okafor subsequently drafting D’Angelo Russell and also hiring new school coach, Luke Walton.
More details about Jeanie Buss’ plans for the upcoming offseason are sure to surface in the coming weeks, but for now fans can turn their attention to what the team will do with their two draft picks.
