Lakers Offseason: Larry Nance Jr. Working Hard With Tim DiFrancesco (Video)

Sophomore forward, Larry Nance Jr. is just one of the many young Lakers already in the gym working hard to make the 2016-17 season a standout year

When the Los Angeles Lakers selected Larry Nance Jr with the 27th pick in the 2015 Draft, many questioned their decision to do so. A relatively unknown prospect, fresh off of an ACL tear the year prior, it wasn’t actually until it was revealed that San Antonio Spurs were close to pulling the trigger on Nance that the pick started to make sense.

Upon coming to the Purple and Gold, Nance quickly became a fan favorite with his outstanding hustle, incredible athleticism and of course, the subsequent poster dunks that came along with it.

But just when you thought you couldn’t like Jr anymore, he goes and shows off yet another impressive asset that the majority of the Lakers’ young core seems to have: unwavering work ethic.

In a new video posted by the NBA’s official Lakers’ site, trainer Tim DiFrancesco gave a quick rundown on exactly what the standout sophomore is working on this offseason — starting and ending with putting on what he calls “lean mass,” in order to be able to bang with the bigger power forwards in the Association.

DiFrancesco specifically revealed that he wants Nance to put on “two to four, or four to six pounds of lean mass to go along with his athleticism.” Seeing how it was recently reported that LSU prospect, Ben Simmons put on 20 pounds since the season’s end, it seems like a relatively easy feat for Nance to accomplish.

Another interesting tidbit the Lakers’ trainer mentioned was the fact that the Nance has been responding well to his leg workouts which is an encouraging sign seeing how his knee was an ongoing problem near the end of the season.

If Nance is able to stay healthy, he should be an impact player in the NBA for years to come, so hopefully the Lakers can find a way to prioritize just that.
