NBA Draft 2016: Top 100 Prospects, Possible Lakers Targets
50. Jake Layman
Age: 22
Position: SF
School/Country: Maryland
Height: 6-9
Weight: 209 pounds
Jake Layman never wowed anyone with his production in four years with the Terrapins. However, the forward measured and performed well at the combine and was enough of a leader and outside shooter that he should be selected in the mid-to-late second.
49. Michael Gbinije
Age: 24
Position: SG/SF
School/Country: Syracuse
Height: 6-7
Weight: 205 pounds
If not for his age, Michael Gbinije would probably be at the back end of the first round. Especially after arriving at Syracuse, the wing showed his ability to shoot, facilitate, defend and simply make plays on both ends. I think he’s a sleeper in this draft that the Lakers and others should seriously consider trying to get.
48. Robert Carter
Age: 22
Position: PF
School/Country: Maryland
Height: 6-8.5
Weight: 251 pounds
Though his height wasn’t ideal when he measured at the combine, Carter’s length was solid and almost impressive enough to outweigh sub-par athletic measurements. Still, he showed he could produce while at Maryland last year and will get a shot from some NBA team.
47. Paul Zipser
Age: 22
Position: SF
School/Country: Germany
Height: 6-8
Weight: 210 pounds
Playing for Bayern Munich (in basketball, not alongside Robert Lewandowski), Zipser has shown in a semi-limited role what he’s capable of. He can score and rebound quite well and has upside. His age hurts him, but he could be a quality role player coming over for some team.
46. Caris LeVert
Age: 21
Position: PG/SG
School/Country: Michigan
Height: 6-7
Weight: 191 pounds
Injuries were an unfortunate part of LeVert’s college career, but he’s still an intriguing prospect. He’s a guard with great size and solid length that showed he can fill up a box score when healthy. He’ll turn some heads for certain leading up to the NBA Draft.
