Potential of Lakers Selection

Let’s just get this out of the way and say that, if the Los Angeles Lakers keep the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, there’s no way that they are selecting Kris Dunn with that selection.

This draft has long been regarded as a “two-player” draft where there is a distinct tier of talent at the top with Brandon Ingram and Ben Simmons and then a much larger tier below them where it feels like about 15-20 players could potentially go in the lottery. Dunn is at the head of that.

However, there’s always the chance that the Lakers have something up their sleeve and might look to move down in the draft. When you look at teams like the Boston Celtics sitting there at No. 3 overall, there is definite potential to try and move up in the draft for that type of team. And considering the fact that the Lakers expressed interest prior to the lottery of taking Dunn if they ended up at No. 3, that makes thing intriguing.

If you were talking about a percentage or something of that sort, you’d have to say that it’s less than a five percent chance that Kris Dunn winds up on the Lakers as another guard in Los Angeles after the 2016 NBA Draft. When it comes to all of the moving parts and how everything can get wild this time of year, though, never say never.
