Let the LeBron James to the Los Angeles Lakers rumors commence
In one fell swoop, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers opened up a brand new realm of possibilities in terms of the upcoming NBA free agency period.
Once a foregone conclusion that the King would return to The Land in order to fulfill his promise of bringing a ring to the city, now that he’s done just that, he’s free to do as he pleases, nearly completely free from criticism.
Just a day after the Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors in Game 6, Yahoo Sports reporter, Adrian Wojanrowski pre-maturely argued that should James win the title, he could very well be on the move come this offseason.
Some will cite that the strained relationship between Woj and LeBron James’ team hinders his ability to fairly report on the subject, but the fact of the matter remains, when Woj talks, we listen.

"One more victory, one more magnificent night at Oracle Arena, and James will get to run off with his buddies again somewhere warm. Miami. Los Angeles. Wherever. There’s a restlessness about James that craves the next big move, the next power play… Franchises are on watch again, believing nothing’s forever in Northeast Ohio. Sooner or later, there’s a belief that James comes into play again, a line of thinking that his inner circle has done nothing to dissuade. As for James himself, well, he has gone so far as to publicly describe an end-of-career scenario that doesn’t include Cleveland."
Fast forward to the morning after winning the NBA Title Sunday night and there are already rumblings, albeit from Stephen A. Smith.. ugh, that the Lakers “could be in the mix,” to land LeBron this offseason. (H/T to SilverScreenAndRoll for the Smith quote).
As a long time dreamer of a LeBron James-Kevin Durant super team in Los Angeles, the truth of the matter remains, the duo will definitely at the very least consider the possibility of this actually happening. But that’s another argument for another time.
Having struck out two straight years in free agency, with the Purple and Gold landing the second overall pick two years in a row, the Lakers’ luck could be turning at exactly the right time.

Yes, it’s a long shot but the combination of a ridiculous amount of cap space, the bright lights and big market of Los Angeles and the proper mix of big name free agents, the 2016 offseason could prove huge for LA.
