The day that Los Angeles Lakers fans have long been waiting for has finally arrived. On Thursday night live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, the 2016 NBA Draft will take place and the Lakers are in a position where they can really take tremendous steps forward in the rebuilding process.

Obviously the biggest asset that the Lakers have going into the 2016 NBA Draft is the No. 2 overall pick. With Ben Simmons being essentially a lock to go first overall to the Philadelphia 76ers, all signs seem to point to the Lakers taking Brandon Ingram out of Duke.

Crazier things have happened than the Lakers potentially not taking Ingram, though, as that’s really the nature of the NBA Draft. Even if it does play out expectedly at the top of the lottery, though, things could still get wild as the rest of the lottery after the Lakers is far from set.

Moreover, the Lakers have an early second-round pick that they can work with as well on Thursday night. Considering the organization’s ability to find value later in the draft with guys like Jordan Clarkson in 2014 and Larry Nance Jr. last year, that No. 32 overall pick could prove to be a big deal for the Lakers as well.

Basketball fans are certainly going to not want to miss anything that happens in this draft though. Given what’s been reported leaning up to it, there could be a ridiculous amount of trades and movement, some shocking selections, and much more.
