1. Zach Auguste – PF – Notre Dame

You’ve probably heard me singing the praises of Zach Auguste out of Notre Dame before and don’t think for one second that the fact that he wasn’t drafted on Thursday night is going to stop me. To me, he’s one of the most perpetually underrated and undervalued players coming out of college this year and I love the notion of what he could potentially bring to a frontcourt.

Throughout his time with the Fighting Irish and in the college ranks, there were several things that Auguste proved time and again. For one, he simply has a knack for hitting the boards and winning possession for his team. It didn’t matter the level of opponent, situation, or moment, Auguste was on the glass and putting in work. However, he also showed that he has solid athleticism for a player his size and that allows him to have limited success around the rim in regards to scoring.

Obviously the Lakers have two talented young players at the power forward position in Julius Randle and Larry Nance Jr., thus making it seem like there may not be a spot for Auguste. However, a rebuilding team like the Lakers is simply in a position where they have to bring talent in and then go from there. Auguste could be an asset and they’d be wise to, at the very least, give him some run at Summer League.
