Lakers: Brandon Ingram, D’Angelo Russell Highlight Summer League Roster
The Lakers have announced their roster for the 2016 Las Vegas Summer League
After having the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft and adding Duke standout Brandon Ingram to their roster, there has been quite a bit of hype surrounding which players would be heading out to the desert for the 2016 Las Vegas Summer League.
It had been previously announced that Ingram and D’Angelo Russell would be going in addition invitee and undrafted free agent big man Zach Auguste among others. However, the full roster to get an idea of what to expect had yet to be announced.
In the heart of the beginning of free agency, though, the Lakers announced the full roster for Summer League on Friday afternoon:
Obviously it’s a bit unfortunate that the Lakers aren’t going to be able to bring Jordan Clarkson to Vegas as of now even after they agreed to a four-year deal with him on Friday morning. Moreover, you’d like to see Julius Randle at least get a little work in this offseason with Luke Walton at the helm of the Summer League team.

However, this trip to Sin City for the Lakers is only going to be about two things. For one, the Lakers will want to get a good initial look at their second-round selection and No. 32 overall pick in Croatian center Ivica Zubac. He’s a young player coming overseas with the need to develop, but he’s a player that Lakers fans should undoubtedly be excited for to see what he brings to the table in Vegas.
More than that though, the Lakers and fans should be pining to see what a core of Russell, Ingram, and Larry Nance Jr. look like on the floor together. Those are three key pieces for the organization moving forward and though they’ll have plenty of time to grow together, this will be the first look at that group taking the floor together.
All in all, though, this is an intriguing group of guys with several players currently not under contract that LA should essentially be giving an initial tryout in Vegas at Summer League.
