NBA Summer League 2016: Los Angeles Lakers vs New Orleans Pelicans
After a 17-win season, the Los Angeles Lakers will get the chance to breathe new life into the organization for the first time at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, NV as they kick off their run in 2016 NBA Summer League on Friday night with a matchup against the Summer League squad of the New Orleans Pelicans.
In terms of the overall NBA audience, there’s a bit of intrigue heading into this game as it will pit two of the top-seven lottery picks from the 2016 NBA Draft against one another as Brandon Ingram gets his first taste of live-game action for the Lakers at Summer League in taking on Buddy Hield from the Pelicans.
However, there’s more than just Ingram to keep an eye on for the Lakers. Fans in Los Angeles will also have their eyes on how Ingram and D’Angelo Russell co-exist on the same floor while players like Larry Nance Jr., Anthony Brown, and No. 32 overall pick Ivica Zubac will all have the chance to show what they bring to the table.
Even without Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle, Summer League should be a blast for the Lakers and there is more than enough to watch from the very start in this matchup from the Pelicans. If you want a look at the future, it starts in Vegas on Friday evening for the Lakers.
