NBA Summer League 2016: Los Angeles Lakers vs Golden State Warriors

You never want to read too much into anything that happens at NBA Summer League as much of the success or anything of the sort can be fool’s gold. However, it’s hard to have watched the Los Angeles Lakers over the first two games out in Las Vegas for the 2016 NBA Summer League and not at least be a little impressed with what you’ve seen as they pulled off two victories. Now they’ll look for a third on Monday night as they again take to the Thomas and Mack Center to take on the Golden State Warriors Summer League squad.

D’Angelo Russell played the role of hero in the Lakers last outing in Vegas as he recovered from a paltry showing in the first half to lead the charge on a Lakers comeback and then put the exclamation point on the contest with a game-winning made three as time expired. It was a fantastic outing for the young point guard, even if the likes of Brandon Ingram and Ivica Zubac weren’t nearly as impressive as they were in the Lakers first game.

A bounce-back performance from the two big rookies would have to be what you’re looking for if you’re the Lakers in this game. Inconsistency is expected from 19-year-old rookies so the performances in Game 2 aren’t anything to worry about. However, you want to see how the young guys respond to those kinds of games and that’s one of many things to watch in Lakers vs Warriors on Monday evening.
