These five Lakers players were the standouts at 2016 NBA Summer League

The 2016 NBA Summer League has come and gone from Las Vegas, NV and obviously there were many things of varying consequence that happened over the 1.5 weeks that teams spent out in Sin City. Though it looked through their 3-0 start that the Los Angeles Lakers might be victorious in the tournament portion of Summer League, they ultimately dropped their last two contests as the Chicago Bulls took home the trophy.

However, Summer League largely isn’t about trophies or anything of the sort. Much of the reasoning behind sending players and a team to Summer League is to have young players or players with something to prove to show off their development and that they’re deserving of a role when training camp begins.

That’s certainly what the case was for the Lakers at Summer League with the No. 2 overall picks from the past two drafts in D’Angelo Russell and Brandon Ingram competing in addition to many other Lakers draft picks and guys trying to earn a roster spot. Given that, the question of which players stood out in Vegas is an easy one to ask.

Looking at the answer to said question, there were certain players who stood out from time to time, but ultimately had forgettable showings. A guy like Anthony Brown comes to mind in that regard as his defense was superb, but his offense was so horrendous that you almost just want to wash his time in Vegas from your brain.

With that in mind, these are the five players who stood out for the Lakers at Summer League.
