5. Zach Auguste

Coming off of a four-year career with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Zach Auguste was a player that myself and many others had eyes on coming into Summer League and that seemed to be great additions to the roster for the Lakers. Though LA has bodies in the frontcourt, adding another young piece couldn’t hurt and Auguste showed in college that he at least has potential to be that guy.

Though it might not fully show up in the box score, Auguste continued to show just that in Summer League.

The former Fighting Irish forward averaged just 5.3 points, four rebounds, and 0.8 steals per contest while playing just over 15 minutes per game in the four that he appeared in. However, it was the constant energy and effort that made him a viable leader at Notre Dame that also made him stand out in the Lakers frontcourt in Vegas.

Whether or not the Lakers want to add another body to their frontcourt going into training camp, Auguste proved that he’s a player that should be looked at. He may not have the upside of some other rookies, but he has the heart and leadership qualities necessary to potentially make an impact at the next level if he were to stick on a roster.
