Larr ySanders is still contemplating a return to the NBA, but could the Lakers ultimately wind up being his destination?
The Los Angeles Lakers were relatively active in 2016 NBA free agency, though not in the ways that many fans ultimately expected to be. Regardless of how you feel about the way things shook out, though, the remaining fact is that the Lakers now have only one roster spot remaining before reaching the maximum of 15 players.
What exactly the Lakers plan to do with that final roster spot remains a mystery though. While history would suggest that general manager Mitch Kupchak would prefer to keep the roster at 14 players, the Lakers carried 15 last year after the veteran addition of Metta World Peace. Now it seems as if it could be another veteran making his return to the NBA that could fill the 15th roster spot in LA: Larry Sanders.
Former Milwaukee Bucks center Larry Sanders has been out of the league for a bit now, but has been toying with the idea of a return once NBA free agency started. In fact, he tweeted out a poll to his followers asking essentially where he’d fit best and the Lakers were among the teams listed:

He listed four more, which we’ll show for inclusion’s sake:

That he’s changed his Twitter name to “L8 Show” which is obviously similar to “Lake Show” is obviously a bit curious as well.
Obviously being one of eight teams mentioned on a player who’s out of the league’s Twitter poll doesn’t mean too much at all. However, it does at least imply that he’s giving a return and the Lakers consideration.
It’s definitely worth mentioning, though, that joining the Lakers might not create much opportunity for Sanders. Los Angeles signed Timofey Mozgov as a free agent this offseason while also drafting Ivica Zubac and retaining Tarik Black. However, you never know what can happen at this point in the offseason, so keeping an eye on Larry Sanders would be a wise move for Lakers fans at this point.
