Even in retirement, Nike continues to pump out new colorways of the Kobe 11 just like Kobe Bryant was still in the Association

Kobe Bryant has thoroughly enjoyed his time in Italy, racing Ferrari’s on a racetrack, running basketball clinics and now debuting new Kobe 11 sneakers.

As promised, similar to what Nike has done with the Jordan Brand collection even after Michael Jordan’s retirement, the sportswear brand continues to make new shoes for Kobe Bryant, including his signature model the Kobe 11.

Most recently, releasing the Kobe ‘3D’ 11, paying homage to a colorway first created for the Kobe VI in 2011 when Los Angeles hosted the All-Star game, the brand is moving on to yet another eccentric color choice with the shoe so appropriately nicknamed the “Summer Pack.”

Shown off by Kobe during his summer tour in Italy, the shoe features a white mesh upper with red and teal accents, all wrapped up in a gum bottom sole. Looking at the pictures above, the “Summer Pack” could also be called the “Miami Dolphins” as the colorway is extremely similar to Dan Marino’s former team.

As a big fan of any shoes with a gum bottom sole, I was excited to see what the “Summer Pack” had to offer, but personally, I wasn’t a fan. I would have much rather seen an all white or black upper topped off with the gum bottom sole.

On another note, different material soles produce different traction effectiveness — for example solid rubber soles often perform better than clear soles — so it’ll be interesting to see how these perform on court.

The Kobe 11 “Summer Pack” will release on August 31 for $160 and will likely be general release.
