Worst Case Scenario

On the other hand, Ingram’s inexperience and slight frame may end up being too much for him to overcome in his first professional campaign.

His weight has long been a concern, and one look at the lanky teenager shows why. Of course, the eye test is a poor indicator of almost everything when it comes to most people, but at just 195 pounds, it’s not something we can overlook.

This concern manifested in Summer League, as Ingram was occasional knocked around off-ball and bullied on the glass. Considering the vast majority of these guys will not see extended professional success, his lack physicality could be prove to be devastating in his early years.

Unfortunately, as great of a scorer as he can be, the NBA has an exhaustive list of ready and willing defenders who will muscle him out of the gym. If he can’t get to his spots, it’s going to be tough for him to score with any consistency.

Still, Ingram would be able to scrape together points with his ability to create contact and through spot up opportunities, unless it takes him longer than most to adjust to the NBA three point line, which may been a factor in his poor shooting from deep during summer league.

At the end of the day, Ingram has too many intangibles to become invisible on the professional level. Barring injury, its hard to see him not having an impact as he continues to grow, both physically and mentally. It might take time, but his future will likely be bright for the Lakers.
