Strength: Activity Level

A particularly striking characteristic of Ivica Zubac’s play during his Las Vegas Summer League campaign was the level of activity he demonstrated in each and every game. While young players, particularly big men, can sometimes be overly passive in Summer League, Zubac set out to make an impact from the second he stepped onto the floor.

His energy and activity level was made even more impressive by the fact that he was always deliberate with his actions. This is to say, he always seemed to be in the right place on both ends of the floor, setting screens and getting solid position on offense or rotating quickly and efficiently on defense. This type of feel for the game is very promising for such a young player and bodes well for his ability to contribute sooner rather than later.

This activity level was also an asset on the offensive boards, where Zubac demonstrated an advanced sense of how the ball would come off the rim, resulting in multiple tips and put-back dunks. He also showed the awareness to go back up quickly when he came down with boards, using his size to overwhelm whoever was in front of him.
