Despite a tumultuous season, the Los Angeles Lakers still had their fill of highlight plays from Kobe Bryant and his young supporting cast

Mainly focused around Kobe Bryant, seeing that last season was his Farewell Tour, NBA.com finally released the Los Angeles Lakers’ top ten plays of the season and it should have fans looking forward to next year.

Even amidst scandal and confusing decisions coming from the top, the Purple and Gold were still able to compile a pretty impressive repertoire of top plays.

From highlights of the Black Mamba’s impressive footwork and him showing off what little athleticism he saved for his final season, to what have become Larry Nance Jr’s staple dunks, the top ten was a perfect mixture of past, present and future.

That said, some plays I was disappointed weren’t in there was the last two minutes of Kobe’s final game, Tarik Black’s block and subsequent Larry Nance Jr dunk in the final game, as well as D’Angelo Russell’s game tying bucket over Andrew Wiggins and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

On the other hand, they did include a couple of plays I forgot about that I was happy to see again in Julius Randle’s reverse hammer on Kenneth Faried and Kobe’s sneaky poster on Clint Capela.

Next season, armed with D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, Brandon Ingram, and the aforementioned front court mates, Nance Jr and Randle, the team is sure to have an even more explosive highlight reel than last season.

While the team will head into the season with a chip on their shoulder, on account of ESPN’s projection that they’ll finish last in the Western Conference, I’m sure D’Angelo Russell will also come back with a vengeance based on the media’s coverage, or lack thereof.
