Tuesday night the Los Angeles Lakers will get their second look at the New Orleans Pelicans, a team they destroyed by 27 points in early November

Coming off an impressive victory over Dwight Howard and the Atlanta Hawks, the Lakers will look to make it two straight against Anthony Davis’ struggling Pelicans.

Starting the season with eight losses in a row, things haven’t gone according to plan for the rebuilding Pels. However, since the triumphant return of Jrue Holiday the team has picked it up winning four of their last six, despite losing two straight to the Portland Trailblazers and the league worst, Dallas Mavericks.

The Purple and Gold come into the matchup 9-9 on the season against all odds, especially considering that they’ve had the third hardest schedule thus far per ESPN. Los Angeles will likely be without D’Angelo Russell and Julius Randle for the third straight game, which shouldn’t be a problem considering the strength of their league best bench.

An interesting side storyline to watch for is how Anthony Brown plays against his former team, just four games after being picked up by New Orleans from the D-League.

Injury Report

Los Angeles Lakers: D’Angelo Russell – Knee (Out), Julius Randle – Hip pointer (Doubtful)

New Orleans PelicansDante Cunningham – Knee (Out), Tyreke Evans – Knee (Out), Quincy Pondexter – Knee (Out)

Prediction

LA makes it two straight with another double digit victory against the Pelicans.

Similar to his predecessor, D’Angelo Russell last season, Brandon Ingram has underperformed to start the season, but he could use Tuesday night as a jumping off game as New Orleans’ roster doesn’t necessarily have an ideal matchup for the lanky point-forward out of Duke.
