Despite making progress toward returning, Lakers’ D’Angelo Russell and Tarik Black will not travel with the team to Houston.
When it rains it pours, they say, although it doesn’t rain too much in sunny Southern California; we’re in a drought. The Lakers are experiencing more bad luck with injuries.
Backup big man Tarik Black went down Monday night with an ankle sprain. Thankfully, the x-rays came back negative but Black will still be inactive Wednesday night when the Lakers play the Rockets.
D’Angelo Russell was also re-evaluated earlier today. After missing the past few weeks with a knee injury, Russell is able to resume on court activity. However, there is still no timetable for Russell’s return.
Jose Calderon and Nick Young are still out with their respective injuries and will be re-evaluated at a later date. Larry Nance Jr. is nearing his return to the court and is listed at questionable for Wednesday night’s game in Houston.

If Nance is unavailable Wednesday, the Lakers will have 10 active players on the roster; three guards, five forwards and two centers.
Head coach Luke Walton might be forced to break his beloved bench mob apart in order to play a competitive game of basketball against James Harden and the No. 4 Houston Rockets (14-7).
Both Jordan Clarkson and Lou Williams have made strong cases for the starting nod, but Williams has set himself apart the last two games.
Lou tallied 38 points against the Utah Jazz Monday night, following his 40 point outburst just two prior. When he’s hot, he is one of the best guards in the league.
