3. Coach Walton will move Ivica Zubac into the starting five

With the team far from playoff contention, there’s only one thing left to do and that’s continue to develop their young talent. In doing that Coach Walton should look to bench some of the older veterans and give more minutes to the younger players, especially Zubac.

Zubac on top of being one of the younger guys who should be getting more minutes, is arguably making more of a difference for the team than Mozgov. The fact that they’re out of playoff contention only makes the decision for Walton that much easier.

4.Lou Williams will no longer be a Laker

Unfortunately one of the best players for the Lakers this year is one that is not a young gun. Lou Williams at times has carried the Laker offense alone and because of that the former sixth man of the year is drawing a lot of trade interest from championship caliber teams.

Because Lou has been a star off the bench and doesn’t have a crazy contract, he’s one of the few that can be dealt. It also makes sense for the Lakers to deal him since he’s not part of their core going forward and they might be able to get a good prospect for Lou.

5. The Lakers will play .500 basketball

There’s only 24 games left in the season for the Lakers so playing .500 basketball will leave their win total at 31. Looking at an overall record of 31-51 isn’t something to complain about, especially looking at the past two years for the team.

This is only the beginning for the young core and they’re already getting 31 wins. Imagine three or four years down the road. I can see them getting close to doubling that win total at some point down the line.

The .500 record in the second half of the season will leave Laker fans with a good feeling looking forward to next year. We all know how well the team played early in the year and it would feel great to see them playing at that level once again.
