Magic Johnson gave Jose Calderon the chance to follow his path in search of an NBA title.
As planned, Calderon has been waived by the Lakers, per Lakers.com.
According to Marc Stein of ESPN.com, he is expected to clear waivers as soon as Wednesday and join the ranks of the Golden State Warriors to add backcourt depth.

The Warriors are in need of a veteran floor general to provide quality minutes and step up in case someone suffers an injury to their thin point guard rotation in the playoffs.
Calderon answers perfectly the description as a 41 percent career 3-point shooter and almost a 50-40-90 club member. His passing ability should flourish in a team filled with shooters, while his defense (or lack of) would be covered up by Warrior’s exceptional team defense.
He has been praised by Lakers staff for his contribution as a veteran presence and mentoring role in the young team, but at this point of the season, it makes more sense for both parties to let him go and find a spot in a playoff team.
