Lakers: Brandon Ingram Developing Before Our Very Eyes
Young stud Brandon Ingram has upped his scoring and efficiency recently, proving doubters wrong every game.
Brandon Ingram had a tough first half of the season pretty much any way you look at it. When Ingram first was drafted we expected someone who could score with ease because of his ability to shoot his smooth jumpers over defenders. Sadly it didn’t materialize as quickly as we thought it would.
Not only was he not scoring with ease but he struggled with his shot pretty much all season. His field goal percentage has been in the 30’s all season long, despite being a knockdown shooter in warmups and practices.
Because of his slow start, people have already started calling him a bust. I think everyone expected him to come out of the gates strong and average around 20 points and compete for rookie of the year like other superstars did their rookie season. This hasn’t been the route for Ingram, but it’s still way too soon to be calling him a bust especially with the way he’s been playing lately.

In March we’ve seen a couple differences in Ingram that are positive signs. The first thing is his average in March has risen to double digits. Before March Ingram was only average eight points but in this month he’s raised it by three, but it’s efficiency that’s most impressive.
For the season Brandon is shooting only 38 percent but again in this month, he’s raised it to 50 percent. That’s a significant jump considering how much he’s struggled. This is due to Brandon looking to drive to the basket a lot more.
Before it almost seemed like he was afraid of contact, but now he’s the one initiating the contact. He’s shown that he’s not afraid of that contact anymore. He now delivers about one poster per game off of his drives.
Next: Timofey Mozgov to Brooklyn?
Brandon seems to be going in the right direction in terms of his progression, but what do you guys think? Do you think he’s already a bust or do you think he’s starting to show progress? Let us know in the comments section and follow us on twitter @TheLakeShowLife.
