Recent Lakers rumors have been about a possible trade with the Boston Celtics in order to get the first overall pick.
With the NBA Draft less than a week away, Lakers rumors are really heating up. On what has been a busy Friday, the Boston Celtics appear to have both the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers interested in the first overall pick.
For most of the draft process, Washington point guard Markelle Fultz has been considered as the best prospect in the NBA Draft. Now, it appears that teams are trying to get the first overall pick in order to make sure they are able to draft him.
Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the 76ers were trying to send a package with the third overall pick to Boston for the first pick.
While that is certainly a big offer, the Lakers might have it outdone with the second overall pick and Julius Randle according to Jonathan Givony.
This possible package that the Lakers would send to Boston could be enough to get a deal done. If the Celtics aren’t high on Fultz, they will be able to still select a great player with the 2nd overall pick, and also add Randle to their front court.
Randle is a pretty solid NBA player, who can certainly help a Boston frontcourt that is a bit under-sized. Since Boston already has a great point guard in Isaiah Thomas, them being willing to move the pick makes a lot of sense.
Danny Ainge has done a very good job at stockpiling young talent and draft picks with trades in recent years, while also seeing the team have the best record in the Eastern Conference this past season.

For the Lakers, it has become pretty clear that they want Fultz after seeing him workout. So far, he appears to have been the best prospect that they have seen work out. Now, we will have to wait and see if Magic Johnson will break the bank to get him.
