Hocus Pocus and Abracadabra are nonsense phrases used to help a magician “make something happen”. Magic Johnson plans on picking a player that will make something happen for the Los Angeles Lakers, making him a magician. Right?

With the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers select: Josh Jackson. Pow! Storming out of the gate of his debut season, like it’s 2015 and he’s American Pharoah. Los Angeles Lakers President Magic Johnson strikes his first major splash of the offseason by taking Josh Jackson over Lonzo Ball.

Normally, when Presidents begin their new campaign, a common phrase heard is “roll up our sleeves”. When Magic Johnson came to the Lakers, he made no such remarks regarding his sleeves. For Magic, rolling up his sleeves would reveal his trick.

Now, Johnson will be attempting to help finish fixing the team he once helped win NBA titles. Here are a few reasons why Magic is truly a magician.
