SG – Nick Young

Editor’s Note: Nick Young has just recently declined his player option making him an unrestricted free agent.

Swaggy P aka Nick Young should be back for at least one more season with the Lakers. Last season in just 60 games, Young averaged 13.2 points a game playing 25.3 minutes a night before getting shut down with 22 games left in the season. This is good production that will improve if he can stay fully healthy throughout the season.

Young could provide veteran leadership to this team if he chooses to exercise his player option for the 2017 season. It’s been noted that he may want to join a championship contending team, and forgo another season with a rebuilding team.

"Young was quoted saying, “I’ll be more of a vet here, but at my age, I don’t know if I kind of want to sit around and wait for another team to progress and grow. I kind of want to be on a playoff team and see what happens.”"

Acquiring Paul George could change his decision and may ultimately be the deciding factor as to whether he ends up sticking around for another season. All the Lakers would be asking of Young is leadership and 13-17 points a night. If things keep moving in the right direction for the Lakers this offseason look for Swaggy P to stick around.
