Fine Tune Shooting Mechanics:

A lot of people use the saying if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That could certainly apply here as well. Lonzo shot 41 percent from three-point range making 80 out of his 194 three pointers taken at UCLA. Also, Ball shot 55 percent total from the field, including 73.2 percent on two-point attempts. Both these numbers were very impressive despite just a small sample size.

As many people have seen over the past year, Ball has a unique shooting release comparable to NBA player, Kevin Martin. Often seen in Lonzo’s shot is a “hitch” or pause before sending the ball into the air. He’s considered a cross ball shooter with his mechanics.

Early tendencies appear as if Ball stops his drive and adjusts the ball in his hands all in one motion. What is really fascinating is how Ball releases the ball from the left side of his head. Already in workouts Ball has had with the Lakers it appears he is trying to improve his shooting form very slightly.

Even with all the shooting success Ball had at the college level, it would help him become an even better shooter in the NBA with some minor adjustments to his shot. Ball improving his three-point shot is a very scary scenario for opposing teams facing the Lakers.
