Justin Holiday

Here is a realistic option for Los Angeles. Holiday is another defensive oriented three-point threat poised to hit free agency.

A former NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors, Jrue Holiday‘s older brother comes into free agency after a good individual season with the New York Knicks. Holiday made the most of his first real playing time, averaging 7.7 points in just 20 minutes per game, which projects to 13.8 points per 36 minutes.

Holiday was acquired in 2015 by the Warriors to bring some shooting off the bench when the Splash Brothers were resting. From that moment on, his reputation as a sharpshooter is what kept him around the league and earned him a multi-year contract with the Atlanta Hawks. Later that season they traded him to the Chicago Bulls where he made a name for himself replacing the injured Derrick Rose down the stretch.

Most importantly, his well-known defensive activity is what would entice the most the Lakers. The Californian guard is a strong resource on that end of the floor. He is very mobile, reactive, with good instincts, which combines with an impressive 7-foot wingspan.

Holiday just completed a two-year veteran minimum contract and considering the good but not exceptional season he had, he is not going to command a hefty pay raise. He could be inclined to accept a 1+1 contract at a little bit more of his market price to cash immediately on the first year and trying to showcase himself for a longer term deal the following season.
