New Orleans Pelicans

After trading for DeMarcus Cousins last year to pair up with Anthony Davis, people were picking the Pelicans to make a late push into the playoffs and make some noise. However, the team did not live up to expectations and finished tenth in the West with a 34-48 record.

Why did a team with Cousins and Davis flop? Poor shooting and a weak bench were what lead the Pelicans to their demise. The team needs more than just E’Twaun Moore as their 3-point shooter.

With one year left on Cousins’ contract, the Pelicans might not have much time to put to together a roster that will contend. The management must decide on what to do with free agent Jrue Holiday and quickly add players that will bolster their bench.

Adding Young to this roster could work out really well for the team. Young would become one of the better shooters on the team and open up more space for their superstar tandem to work. He can start at the shooting guard or small forward. He can also come off the bench and still make a big impact like he did in his first year with the Lakers, averaging 17.9 ppg almost entirely off the bench.

Unless the Pelicans are looking at other point guards, bringing back Jrue Holiday and adding Nick Young would be very good moves for the team. Maybe adding another shooter or someone who can score off the bench and the Pelicans could be a contender next year.
