Los Angeles Lakers: Breaking down the 2017 Las Vegas Summer League roster
LOS ANGELES, CA – OCTOBER 26: Brandon Ingram /

Brandon Ingram; Small Forward

Brandon Ingram was the second overall pick by the Lakers in the 2016 NBA Draft. He was recognized for his performance as a rookie, as he was named to the All-Rookie second team. The Lakers are hoping that is only the beginning for Ingram.

Ingram has as high a ceiling as any player currently on the roster. The Lakers deemed him untouchable in trade talks prior to the draft, and with good reason. Despite a rough start to his rookie season, Ingram came along during the second half of the season.

The Summer League is somewhere that Ingram should really shine. With a year in the NBA under his belt, he should be able to perform well in Las Vegas. The Lakers will be looking for him to showcase some development in certain areas, as he will have a chance to work on some things in game situations.

The Lakers have not been shy about putting some pressure on Ingram. Magic Johnson said he was hoping Ingram would show some leadership this season. Leading the summer league team would be a good first step towards that.

Ingram should be the starting small forward for the Lakers when the season begins. His development will be one of the things to keep an eye on all season.
