Alec Brown; Center
Alec Brown is a player to keep an eye on based on his skill set. Like Bryant, he has shown an ability to stretch the floor offensively and protect the rim.
Brown stands 7-feet-1 inches tall, so he is a power forward/center combination. He was selected by the Phoenix Suns in the 2014 NBA Draft. He was the 50th selection but has never appeared in an NBA game.
Brown attended the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. His final two seasons there he developed a perimeter game, making 72-of-170 three-point attempts; a 42.4 percent clip. He also blocked 153 shots in 74 games those final two seasons, showcasing his ability to protect the rim as well. He took home the Defensive Player of the Year award for the Horizon League as a senior in 2014 to boot.
Last season Brown played with the Windy City Bulls, averaging 10.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game. The Lakers are desperate for a stretch-four, so Brown has a chance to distinguish himself. But, competition will be fierce for playing time at center in the Summer League. Brown also leaves a lot to be desired as a rebounder despite his size.
