LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 18: George Hill

The Los Angeles Lakers have recently expressed an interest in signing George Hill. Would he be a good addition for the team?

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Los Angeles Lakers and George Hill have been in serious discussions about a deal that would bring Hill to the Lakers.

Seeing Hill’s name linked to the Lakers is rather surprising. Considering that the Lakers have been pretty set on only offering one-year deals, a player like Hill was thought to be an impossible target.

However, as free agency has gone on, Hill appears to be open to taking a one-year deal. Coming off a great season with the Utah Jazz last year, Hill was assumed to be sitting in good position to land a nice contract this offseason.

While a long-term deal doesn’t appear to be in the plans for Hill, he could receive a nice contract from the Lakers. Seeing how J.J. Redick recently received a one-year, $23 million dollar deal, Hill could be seeking something similar to that.

Last season, Hill averaged 16.9 points, 4.2 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game. Hill has also grown into a good three-point shooter, as he has been above 40 percent the last two seasons. When talking about possible guards the Lakers could target, they have to consider how they would fit with Lonzo Ball.

Despite being just 6’3”, Hill has a big wingspan, which has made him a good defender in the NBA. Hill is certainly capable of guarding shooting guards, and Ball should be able to as well at 6’6”.

Since both are able to shoot from beyond the arc, they certainly appear like they would be able to play on the court at the same time. It would be surprising to see Hill accept a one-year deal, but if the money is right for that one season, anything is possible. For the Lakers, Hill would be a great addition and certainly help the team next season.
