CHICAGO, IL - MARCH 24: Rajon Rondo

The Los Angeles Lakers have expressed interest in veteran point guard and free-agent, Rajon Rondo.

Within the last 48 hours, several reports circulated pertaining to the Los Angeles Lakers potential interest in veteran guard, Rajon Rondo.

The Lakers have yet to sign a free-agent in the midst of a frenzy across the NBA. With that being said, Rondo and the Lakers are not quite the match made in heaven, though he would be a perfect addition to this particular roster.

Although, there is a quiet approach in regards to free agency from the Lakers front office this offseason, a true backup point guard is undoubtedly in need.

Lonzo Ball is poised to withhold the starting point guard position. However, Rajon Rondo is an absolute floor general whom will transition effortlessly when Ball is off the court. Rondo’s leadership ability has been apparent dating back to his stretch in Boston, and for a youthful roster, his veteran-ship is more than necessary.

Prior to Rondo’s thumb injury, he was a key contributor towards the Chicago Bulls surprising game 1 and game 2 victories against the number one seed, Boston Celtics in the first round of the 2017 NBA Playoffs.

Rondo was an efficient 42.3 percent from the field, averaging 11.5 points per game. Also he averaged 10.0 assists and 3.5 steals through two postseason contests.

Concerning the Lakers current state, Rondo’s career timeline fits accordingly to the Lakers likely hasty progression. Both the Lakers and Rondo would be beneficiaries of one another, not only on the court but off the court as well, Rondo is not expected to receive a hefty contract nor a long-term commitment which is practical for both parties.
