Jamal Crawford has expressed an interest in joining the Los Angeles Lakers. Is signing him realistic?
Following the Sacramento Kings signing of previously targeted point guard, George Hill. ESPN reported that the Los Angeles Lakers and Jamal Crawford have a mutual interest. Although a handful of names have been linked to the Lakers, Jamal Crawford appears to be the most realistic potential signee if the Atlanta Hawks choose to buy out his contract.
The 37-year-old shooting guard delivers instant offense. Though he may not be getting any younger, the man could still contribute solid minutes to any and every NBA team despite his age.
The Lakers would surely benefit from Jamal Crawford’s on-court poise and scoring ability inside Luke Walton’s offense, providing much-needed insurance and mentorship for the young core.

As for Crawford, signing with the Los Angeles Lakers is an ideal opportunity to remain in Los Angeles and join a youthful roster of growing expectations and potential. Throughout this past season, Crawford did appear to show signs of age suiting up for the Los Angeles Clippers.
However, he remained to be a key figure within their offense during crunch time and clutch situations. As well as averaging 12.3 points per game, he shot an effective 36.0% from beyond the arch.
If the Atlanta Hawks do in fact buyout Crawford’s contract, I’m assuming the Lakers would not offer a large sum of money. However, he will surely be taken care of.
To simply put it, Crawford to the Lakers just makes sense, it would undeniably be beneficial for both. His addition would instantly provide depth and wing scoring throughout the season. Along with a veteran attitude and consistent productivity, he is a great locker room guy who is willing to hone any role for any roster. We will have to wait and see if Crawford is bought out by the Hawks. If he is, the Lakers are certainly a possible destination.
