Lonzo Ball

A majority of the people who will be turning out to watch the summer league want to see Lonzo Ball in action. The star point guard from UCLA will have a ton of eyes on him because of the expectations being placed on him.

LaVar Ball, Lonzo’s father, has not been shy about talking up his son. He has all of the confidence in the world in Lonzo’s ability, saying the Golden State Warriors would have won a title if you swapped Ball and two-time MVP, Stephen Curry. That is some big expectations to live up to, but the Lakers haven’t been shy talking up Ball, either.

Magic Johnson has already proclaimed Ball to be the next face of the franchise without even stepping on the court. The summer league will be the first chance for Ball to showcase those face of the franchise abilities.

His otherworldly passing skills should be on full display. In these types of games, we will see a lot of players go one-on-one to try and score. Ball is a quintessential point guard and likes to pass. He will want to get his teammates involved.

One thing to keep an eye on is his shooting form. It is one of the knocks against him as it is a very unorthodox release. There is some concern it won’t work against better defenders, but it is a quick release so there may not be too much reason to be concerned.
