By Nick Ziegler
The Los Angeles Lakers were able to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Las Vegas Summer League tournament. What were three takeaways from the win?
In their fifth Summer League game, the Los Angeles Lakers were able to defeat the second seeded Cleveland Cavaliers by a score of 94-83. Despite the slow start in Las Vegas, the Lakers have certainly found their groove recently.
The win against the Cavaliers was their third straight, and there has been a lot of positives for the Lakers in those wins. To start their winning streak, the Lakers were able to get a big performance from Alex Caruso.
With Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, and Josh Hart out of the lineup, Caruso was able to help lead the Lakers to a win over the Sacramento Kings. The strong performance by Caruso resulted in him receiving a two-way contract from the Lakers. Caruso’s play in the Summer League shows that summer basketball does have some meaning.
Since the game against the Kings, it has been the Lonzo show for the Lakers. As the second overall pick in the NBA Draft, Ball is the most talented player on the court most nights. Since his poor debut, Ball has been proving that he is the best player on the court.
Next up for the Lakers will be a matchup against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night. However, here are three takeaways from their recent win against the Cavaliers.
