After recently being waived by the Los Angeles Lakers, guard David Nwaba has been claimed by the Chicago Bulls according to reports.

Despite wanting to maintain cap space for next offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers were able to make a big splash in free agency.

After surprisingly becoming an unrestricted free agent, Kenatvious Caldwell-Pope decided to take a lucrative one-year deal with the Lakers. The deal worked out very well for both sides. Caldwell-Pope will be making $18 million dollars for next season, and the Lakers don’t have to worry about him affecting their cap for next season.

However, the signing of Caldwell-Pope did result in a change to the Lakers roster. In order to make room for Caldwell-Pope, the Lakers had to waive guard David Nwaba.

Last season, Nwaba made his debut for Los Angeles. Even though he is not a good shooter, Nwaba was able to have a positive impact for the team on the defensive end, and also on the glass. Even though shooting was a weakness for Nwaba, he was able to shoot 58 percent from the field. While many of these baskets came from around the rim, Nwaba was a player that knew his role on the offensive end.

So far this summer, Nwaba was playing well for the Lakers Summer League team, prior to being placed on waivers. Like what we saw last season, Nwaba brought an edge to the Lakers defensively, and also had some highlight slam dunks.

Now, Nwaba has been claimed by the Chicago Bulls and will be playing there next season.

This is actually a very good landing spot for Nwaba. After trading Jimmy Butler this offseason, the Bulls are just starting their rebuild. With a rebuild will come an opportunity to Nwaba. Considering he does have NBA experience, Nwaba might be able to earn some minutes for the Bulls rather quickly.

In addition to potentially having some minutes on a bad team, Nwaba will also be teammates with Dwyane Wade. As one of the best shooting guards of all-time, Nwaba can certainly learn a thing or two from him. Nwaba will certainly be missed in Los Angeles. However, he ended up in a great spot for the next chapter of his career.
