Vander Blue

Vander Blue is the reigning NBA G-League MVP. That is an impressive accolade to have, but you can be sure Blue would trade that in for a chance to land a guaranteed deal with the Lakers NBA team. This summer is as good a chance as ever for Blue to garner some attention from the Lakers or other teams in the NBA.

The Lakers have three roster spots open; two on the NBA roster and one more two-way deal. Alex Caruso signed the first two-way deal earlier this week. David Nwaba’s release to make room for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope could be Blue’s ticket to the NBA squad.

The backcourt is where the Lakers need the most depth. Right now, Lonzo Ball is the only point guard on the roster. Caldwell-Pope is the only shooting guard and Jordan Clarkson provides a combo guard off the bench. The last two roster spots could very well go to guards, meaning Blue has a chance to crack the roster.

If Blue wants to make the team, tonight’s game is an important one. It could be the last chance he has to make an impression on the team for a few months. He is the fourth leading scorer for the Lakers in Las Vegas, averaging 11.2 points per game.

Blue has proven he can get it done in the G-League. Now he is hoping to get a chance to show he can get it done in the NBA as well.
