January 7th, 2003 vs Seattle SuperSonics

On this night in Los Angeles, Bryant, just 24 years old, had one of his hottest shooting nights in his career. Coming into this game, he was shooting just 28 percent from three during the 2003-04 season. Based on this performance, you would have never imagined that being the case.

Overall, on the night, Bryant finished with 45 points, three assists, and three rebounds. This led the Lakers to an 119-98 win over the aging Sonics. At the time, Bryant passed Dennis Scott’s all-time record of 11 three-pointers made in a game, with 12. This included a streak in which he made nine straight three’s.

Like mentioned earlier, he was one of the streakiest scorers I’ve ever seen play. This record has since been tied by Donyell Marshall and surpassed by Stephen Curry in 2016 with 13 made from deep.

Nonetheless, this was one of the greatest shooting displays to date, and even more impressive based on the fact that teams didn’t shoot as many threes back in that era. Bryant ended the night shooting 16-of-28 overall, including 12-of-18 from three point land. Watch all 12 three-pointers here:
