Los Angeles Lakers veteran Corey Brewer is one of the many believers that the team is heading in the right direction.

Last season, the Los Angeles Lakers were able to acquire Corey Brewer in a trade with the Houston Rockets. It was a bit surprising to see the Rockets trade Brewer in the deal that brought Lou Williams to Houston, as Brewer had been a solid player for them.

In his career, Brewer has primarily been a bench player. With some limitations on offense, Brewer is a guy that can really bring it on the defensive end of the court for a team. As a good athlete, Brewer does have the ability to get out in transition and finish around the rim.

Being traded from the Rockets to the Lakers last season was surely tough for Brewer. He went from a playoff team to one of the worst teams in the league. While being traded from the Rockets to the Lakers likely disappointed Brewer, he believes that the Lakers will have a bright future.

"“We’ve got Lonzo Ball, some good young talent coming in so we should have a better year,” Brewer said to Kevin Brockway of Gainsville.com. “The future is going to be bright. Magic is great, he’s doing a good job and Rob Pelinka, who has come in and took over as the GM, they’re both doing a great job and they are getting the pieces they want.”"

Brewer is one of many that starts with Lonzo Ball when talking about the Lakers’ bright future. Ball has really impressed many not only in Los Angeles but around the NBA. With a lot of young talent including Ball, it will be interesting to see where Brewer fits in the Lakers’ rotation.

Considering all of the young players on the team, Brewer might be able to find himself with his normal role off the bench. Some of the young players, while talented, will surely have some growing pains next season.

As a proven veteran, Brewer can help the Lakers off the bench defensively. The defense will surely be something that the Lakers are looking to improve upon. Last season, they were one of the worst teams in the NBA in defensive efficiency, but a guy like Brewer can help that if he plays.

Even though the Lakers likely won’t be playing in the playoffs this season, Brewer will be a valuable veteran to help some of the young players. With some available minutes to be received off the bench, expect to see Brewer in the rotation to start the season.
