With the final pick in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers selected guard Josh Hart. After making a trade with the Utah Jazz, the Lakers moved back two spots in the draft. With the first of the two picks they received from the Jazz, the Lakers took Hart.
After a great college career, Hart’s hard work was rewarded by the Lakers. As one of the best college players in the country last season, Hart was certainly deserving of being taken in the first round. While teams generally stay away from four-year college players, there is no denying that they can help a team. Hart was one of the college players that just consistently worked hard on his game to greatly improve over the course of four years.
A player like Hart that played four years in college is usually more ready to have an impact that most freshman coming into the NBA. Getting a potential rotation player at the end of the first round is certainly a great value, and the Lakers hope Hart can achieve that.
Sadly, we didn’t get to see much of Hart in the Las Vegas Summer League. Even though many were focused on Lonzo Ball, Hart was certainly another player that fans were looking forward to seeing. However, an injury limited him in the tournament.
