Brook Lopez has the best season of his career

Brook Lopez, 29 years old, is still in the prime of his career. After nine seasons with the Nets, he finally gets a change of scenery. It just so happens that he will be back in his hometown. He’s from North Hollywood and attended Stanford University. He has career averages of 18.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.

The expectation for Lopez is to become the veteran leader for this team. He will no doubt fit that role perfectly. During the introductory news conference, Lopez added, “I’m just excited to be here and help teach them, to be that veteran presence in this organization” according to Greg Beacham of NBA.com.

Feeling confident and relaxed on his new team, I believe it will translate to Lopez’s best season in the NBA. He made 134 three-pointers last season, and that number will only continue to rise as he puts in more work. A center that can stretch the floor and hit from deep is an added bonus most teams don’t have.

With just one year left on Lopez’ contract, this season is critical for him to land one last lucrative deal. Expect him to put up career highs in points scored and rebounds. Playing in Luke Walton’s offensive system should maximize his strengths. A center at 7-feet tall who can spread the floor and shoot threes will certainly be fun to watch.
